Patrick Banigan joined the UIW Football staff prior to the 2017 season as a defensive quality control coach working with the outside linebackers and nickels.

Banigan comes to UIW from Trinity University (TX), where he spent the past two seasons as the outside linebackers/nickelbacks coach. The 2015 season featured a Trinity defense that was one of the most successful units in Division III. The Tigers ranked second in the nation in red zone defense, third in rushing defense, 17th in total defense and 19th in scoring defense, while forcing 2.7 turnovers per game.

 
Prior to joining the Trinity football staff, Banigan served as a defensive volunteer assistant coach at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, TX, working with the defensive backs. He played a key role in helping the 2014 Tigers defense rank first in District 18-5A and earn a 5A Texas state playoff berth.

Coach Banigan earned his Bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Texas A&M University in 2015.
