Miguel Rodriguez

Miguel Rodriguez joined the UIW Football staff in 2017 as a graduate assistant working with the defensive line.
 
Prior to UIW, Rodriguez served as an inside linebackers and tight ends coach at the Texas Military Institute. He helped lead the Panthers to their first playoff appearance since 2010, and first quarterfinals appearance since 1983.

Rodriguez came to TMI from The University of Texas at San Antonio, were he served as a Student Assistant.
 
During his two seasons under Head Coach Larry Coker and Defensive Coordinator Neal Neathery, Rodriguez worked with the defensive line, corner backs and linebackers.
 
In 2015, UTSA’s defense ranked 31st nationally in interceptions (14), and posted the 37th-best red zone defense with 12 stops inside the 20-yard line. UTSA’s defense forced 22 turnovers (8 fumble recoveries/14 interceptions) and allowed only 168.9 rushing yards per game in 2015, including holding two opponents to less than 100 yards.
 
A season earlier, UTSA’s defense ranked in the Conference USA top five in five different statistical categories. The unit ranked second in rushing defense (140.8 ypg), and forced 19 turnovers (10 fumble recoveries/9 interceptions). UTSA held a pair of foes to less than 100 yards on the ground, including a program-record minus-26 in a season-opening 27-7 win at Houston.
 
A graduate of Sandra Day O’Connor High School in Helotes, Texas, Rodriguez earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UTSA in 2014.
 
Rodriguez and his wife, Tiffany, reside in Helotes.
