Michael Briglin

Recruiting Areas:  Dallas-Fort Worth West

Mike Briglin, a native of Oswego, N.Y., joined the coaching staff of Incarnate Word prior to the 2010 season.  The U.S. Army war veteran was the running backs coach from 2010-13 and added the role of Director of Football Operations in 2011 when he became a full time assistant.  He moved over to the defensive side of the ball in 2014 as the Defensive Ends Coach.
    
Briglin's brightest running back pupil was Trent Rios.  Rios was a three-time Honorable Mention All-Lone Star running back and finished with 2,420 yards rushing in his career. 

In 2013, he worked with a trio of freshmen who combined for over 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns.  Overall, the team rushed for a school record 2,004 yards and averaged 4.5 yards per carry.  Broderick Reeves was the CFPA National Running Back of the Week following his 244-yard, 6-touchdown performance at McMurry.
    
In addition to Rios, Briglin worked extensively with fullback Donald Gies who earned all-conference honors in 2010 and 2011.
    
Off the field, Briglin is thoroughly immersed in the day-to-day operations of the program.  His behind the scenes work helps the program run smoothly.
    
Prior to UIW, Briglin was the head of the NFL’s development program in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He spent three years in that role and his teams won three championships. 

He became an assistant linebackers coach and co-coordinator for the junior varsity defense at Moanalua High School in 2009.  He helped lead the JV to their championship game while the varsity went 10-0 and won the OIA championship.

Briglin began his professional career at Elmcrest Children's Center in Syracuse, N.Y. where he worked with troubled youths.  In 2005 he moved to Hawaii where he became a program budget analyst for Army Community Service at Schofield Barracks.

Briglin has earned his bachelor of arts in sociology from the University of Oswego in 2001 and is currently seeking a master’s degree in sports management from the University of the Incarnate Word.  Other certifications he holds are in supervision and management through United States military training programs.
 
Briglin’s athletic career includes playing on the U.S. Army’s Rugby Team and at the University of Oswego.
 
Briglin is a member of the USA Football Coaches Association, NFL Association, Texas Coaches Association, American Coaches Football Association, and the Pacific Islands Athletics Alliance.
