Cole McDowell joined the University of the Incarnate Word football program in December of 2025 and currently serves as the Tight Ends Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. 

 

McDowell joins the Cardinals following one season as the Tight Ends Coach and Co-Recruiting Coordinator at West Texas A&M in 2025. The Buffs went 8-4 improving from 5-6 the year prior. The Buffs averaged 487.1 yards and 37.08 points per game. He coached one Buff Tight End to an all conference selection in 2025.

 

Prior to his stint at West Texas A&M, McDowell spent one season as the Tight Ends Coach at Central Missouri in 2024. The Mules went 9-3 this season with an appearance in the Heritage Bowl as they averaged 526.1 yards and 39.1 points per game.

 

McDowell joined the UCM staff following a stint as a Defensive Graduate Assistant working with linebackers at Tennessee State, while in Nashville he also handled the transfer recruitment duties for the defensive staff. 

 

Cole played tight end at Murray State University for three seasons, helping the Racers lead the Ohio Valley Conference in offense in 2021. Following his time at Murray State, McDowell earned his bachelor’s degree while playing his final collegiate season at West Alabama.

Cole is married to his wife Morgan and they have a daughter, Micah
