University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Adrian Duncan enters his first season at the University of the Incarnate Word as co-special teams coordinator and running backs coach.

Duncan comes to UIW following a successful stint at West Texas A&M, where he served as running backs coach and assistant special teams coordinator. During the 2025 season, the Buffaloes had an All-Conference Honorable Mention running back in freshman Jayden Hibbler, who came to UIW this fall. Duncan helped guide the Buffaloes to a 2025 Heritage Bowl appearance and victory. The Buffaloes offense averaged 487.1 yards and 37.08 points per-game. Prior to his time at West Texas A&M Duncan spent two seasons at the University of Central Missouri as running backs coach and special teams coordinator. 

During his tenure at Central Missouri, Duncan helped lead the Mules to a conference championship and NCAA Division II playoff berth in 2023 along with setting a multitude of conference and NCAA offensive records with the No. 1 offense in the country. Under Duncan’s coaching, Central Missouri produced a First Team All-Conference All-Purpose Back and a Second Team All-Conference Running Back in Marcellous Hawkins. The ground game had 2,288 yards and averaged 5.8 yards per carry with 27 touchdowns. The Mules followed their championship season with a Heritage Bowl appearance and victory in 2024. The 2024 Mules averaged 39.08 points and 526.08 yards per-game, while the running game had 1,578 yards and 22 touchdowns. During the 2024 season Duncan helped direct freshman running back LaAngelo Bell to an ALL-MIAA Honorable Mention. 

A native of Austin, Texas, Duncan was a captain and played running back at Abilene Christian University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and started in the performance/personal training business. Known for his energy, leadership and commitment to player development, Duncan has built a reputation for developing student-athletes both on and off the field. His playing experience, combined with his coaching background in offensive skill development and special teams, has been instrumental for his coaching with his players.

Duncan resides in San Antonio alongside his wife, Jade.
