Eric Gillberg joined the Sports Medicine staff in the summer of 2016 as the athletic trainer for baseball and synchronized swimming. He is certified nationally and licensed in the State of Texas. Eric is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Previously, Eric held a dual faculty and clinical position in athletic training at Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU). During his tenure at KWU, he worked with all of the athletic teams, taught several courses in the Sports and Exercise Science Department, and served on several committees. The Coyote Athletic teams won 64 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Titles during Eric’s 10 years working with them.
Eric’s experience includes multiple areas of the athletic training profession. He has provided sports medicine coverage for NAIA, NJCAA Women’s Basketball and Kansas State High School Activities Association championships. He served on the NAIA Athletic Training Association Championship Committee. In addition, Eric helped develop the Kansas Athletic Trainers’ Society All-Academic award for collegiate students in accredited programs.
Eric earned his bachelor’s degree in movement science and athletic training from Texas Christian University (2004) and his masters of education in Sports Administration from Wichita State University (2006) while working at Bethel College (KS).
He has received training in Kinesio Taping, the Functional Movement Screen, the Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Mobilizations with Movement from the Mulligan Concept, Positional Release Therapy and Primal Reflex Release Technique.
A native of Salina, Kansas; Eric and his wife, Regina, are the parents of Raeann, Evan, Kaison and Rosalie.
