Biography

2018 (Senior): Played and started in 42 games… registered 41 hits, 36 runs and 13 RBIs… had eight doubles and a triple en route to a .349 slugging percentage… walked 40 times and had a .466 on-base percentage… led the Cardinals with 13 stolen bases… second in the team in SLC action with a .333 batting average… had 30 hits, 19 runs and eight RBIs in league play… posted a .508 on-base percentage after amassing 27 walks… was 8-9 in stolen bases… had nine multi-hit games with five two-hit games, a three-hit game, and three four-hit games… had a season-high two RBIs against Abilene Christian on March 11… had an eight-game hitting streak and was third on the team with a 24-game reached base streak… was 4-for-5 with two runs against Northwestern State on May 6 and went 4-for-7 with four runs at Prairie View A&M on April 17.

2017 (Junior): He started in all 54 games he appeared in. His .308 BA was third highest on the team, had 65 hits, 27 RBI's, and 46 runs. He had a .396 OB% and had the most stolen bases on the team with 18. On the defensive end he had 169 putouts and a .978 fielding percentage. He was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic team, also he was named to the SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll with a 3.33 GPA.

2016 (Red-Shirt)

2015 (Sophomore): 
Whitehead served as the Cardinals' starting center fielder before moving over to right field later in the season. He started 46 games and hit leadoff or second most of the season.  He led the team in runs scored (28), collected 43 hits and 24 RBI's.  He walked 16 times and finished second on the team with 11 stolen bases.  He had eight outfield assists and was one of only 12 outfielders in the nation with at least seven assists. He had a six-game hitting streak in which he went 10-for-28, raising his batting average 21 points in the span.  He had 3-hit games against New Mexico State and Stephen F. Austin.  He went 2-for-4 against Omaha, with three runs scored, three RBI's, a home run and three walks. He made a number of spectacular defensive plays including an amazing diving catch against SFA to prevent the tying run from reaching second in the ninth inning.  He was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2014 (Freshman): Whitehead was the Cardinals starting center fielder and leadoff hitter. He started 49 games as a true freshman. He had the team's second longest hitting streak with 12 and reached base safely in 16 straight games. He had 11 multi-hit games in the year and led the team in runs, triples, walks and stolen bases. He went 4-for-4 with two walks and a run scored at UTSA. He scored four runs in a game against LIU-Brooklyin. He drove in a season high three runs against Hofstra and UT Pan-American.  He was named to the Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll.

High School:  Whitehead was on the baseball, football and track teams at Johnson High School. He was a member of the All-District first team in his junior and senior years and was the team and offensive MVP in 2013.  In 2012 his team were the District Champions and in 2013 they made it to the Regional semi-finals. He earned Academic All-District and All-State honors and was a member of the National Honor Society.  He hit .380 with 22 stolen bases as a junior and followed it up with a .433 batting average and 24 steals as a senior.

Personal:  Whitehead is the son of Ken and Nancy Whitehead and is studying marketing. He has a sister, Katie.  He was born on August 12, 1994.
