University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

2024 (Graduate): Came in as the designated hitter in seven games his final season. He tallied nine at-bats, three runs, three hits, and two RBI.

2023 (Senior): Designated hitter, Richey, appeared in 17 games for the Cardinals with 12 starts. He totaled six runs, 15 hits and eight RBIs. 

2022 (Junior): Did not play. 

Previous: Played with Texas State University in 2018 then he transferred to Cisco College where he graduated in 2020 with an Associate of Arts degree…while at Cisco he became an All-American 2^nd team outfielder and All Conference Academics…he was later recruited to the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in 2020…he then signed with UIW in 2021.
 
High School: Played at Lindale High School where he graduated in 2019…while there he Played on Varsity as a freshman at a 5A school, later as a sophomore he attained, Class 5A All-State HM Second Baseman: Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, Class 5A All-State HM Second Baseman: Texas Sports Writers Association, Class 5A All-East Texas First Team Infield: ETFinalScore.com, District 17-5A All-District Newcomer of the Year (Superlative Honor), District 17-5A Academic All-District…his junior year James was awarded District 17-5A Champions, All-District Third Base, District 17-5A Academic All-District...for James’ senior year he achieved Bi-District Champions, Class 5A All-State First-team Third Baseman: Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association, Class 5A All-State First-team Third Baseman: Texas Sports Writers Association, Class 5A All-East Texas First Team Infield, District 17-5A All-District Offensive Player of the Year (Superlative Honor), Picked for FCA All-Star Game, Class 5A Academic All-State team, District 17-5A Academic All-District.
 
Personal: Son to Jim and Toni Richey…has one sibling, Elizabeth…his Uncle Gale Smith played professional baseball for five years…his cousins Jackson Hitt and Mason Green currently play collegiate basketball in Oklahoma and in Washington…majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in administration…Born on August 21, 1999, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
