McGuire guided right fielder Sean Arnold to being named to the All-Conference Defensive Team in 2019. McGuire also worked extensively with Cardinals hitters on pitch recognition and plate discipline. The Cardinals led the conference in almost every offensive category including runs and on-base percentage.

McGuire finished his collegiate career as a two-time letter winner with the University of Missouri in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He also hit a two-run home run in a 2-0 victory against the University of Tennessee that helped Mizzou win the series that helped clinch its place in the SEC conference tournament. He graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies degree in 2017.  After his playing career at Mizzou, he went on to be a volunteer assistant coach at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO in 2017-18.

McGuire played for the University of New Mexico his freshman season on a team that won the Mountain West conference championship.  He also earned Academic All-Conference honors and was chosen the Most Valuable Defensive Player by the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in the Northwoods League that summer in 2014.

After his freshman year at New Mexico, he played for McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas in 2015 and was an instrumental part of the team that finished the season as NJCAA Region V Regional Champions and national runner-up in the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO. McGuire finished the season batting .386 with 49 RBI and 19 stolen bases with the Highlanders finishing the season with a 41-20 record. His .443 conference batting average earned him Second Team All-Conference honors as well as being named to the NJCAA Region V All-Academic Team.

A native of Round Rock, Texas, McGuire graduated from Round Rock High School in 2013 after being named a First Team All-District outfielder his junior and senior year and earning First Team All-Centex honors his senior year.
