Greg Evans was announced as the assistant coach on August 26, 2019. He will take the role of recruiting coordinator and assist with infielders and hitting.
Evans joins the Cardinals after more than 20 years of coaching experience at all levels of baseball. He spent his past two seasons as the assistant coach at Grayson College. Prior to Grayson, he spent the 2017 season as an assistant at Abilene Christian. Evans also spent his 2016-2017 seasons at Houston, first as the assistant coach for the softball team, then with baseball team during his second season. Before Houston, he served as the assistant softball coach at Texas Tech for two seasons.
Evans had his longest stint as the associate head coach at Oklahoma State from 2004-2012. Before working with the Cowboys, he was the assistant coach for the Texas Tech baseball program for six seasons. Evans spent the 1997 season as an area scout for the former MLB team, the Montreal Expos. Prior to the Expos, he served as the head coach at Grayson College for a season. He spent the 1993-1995 seasons as the assistant coach for Texas Tech. Evans was the head coach at Frank Phillips College for two seasons prior to Tech. He began his coaching career as the assistant coach at Lubbock Christian University from 1998-1990.
The Boyle, Mississippi, native spent his collegiate playing career at Ole Miss, splitting his time between second base, third base and the outfield over his four years.

He earned his bachelor's in public administration from Ole Miss in 1985 and his master's in sports administration from Texas Tech in 1987.
