Biography

2017 (Senior): He started 44 of the 51 appearances he made. He had a .276 BA, 45 hits, 27 runs, and 27 RBI's. He had a .322 OB%. He was named to the SLC Honor Roll with a 3.71 GPA.

2016 (Junior): Shepherd was the Cardinals' starting shortstop. He played in 42 games, and started 40 of them. He collected 26 hits, six doubles, and walked 10 times. He was second on the team with five sacrifice bunts, and led the team in defensive assists with 119. He was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. 

2015 (Sophomore): Shepherd served as a utility player for the Cardinals. He started seven games between third base and shortstop. He hit a walk-off single against Central Arkansas after coming in as a defensive replacement in the 10th inning.  He was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2014 (Freshman):  Shepherd was handed the task of being the team's starting shortstop and did a great job defensively with just 13 errors in 220 chances.  He hit .269 in April and May after a slow start to the season.  He had two hits and drove in two runs against New Orleans.  He had a big game at UT-Pan American with three hits, three runs, two RBI's and a double.  He had a stretch of six hits in seven at bats late in May, including a 4-RBI performance against Abilene Christian.

High School:  Shepherd played baseball and football at the Coldspring-Oakhurst High School.  He earned first team football all-district honors in football in 2011 and 2012 and on defense in 2012.  He was the district baseball newcomer of the year in 2011.  He was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal:  Shepherd is the son of Brian and Sherry Shepherd and is studying business administration.  He has a brother, Blayne.  He was born on April 13,1995.
