Biography

2018 (Junior): Appeared in 16 games and had 12 starts… had six wins and three losses… completed two games and one save… had 75 strikeouts in 102.2 innings pitched… held opponents to a .299 batting average.

2017 (Sophomore): All 14 appearances on the year were as a starter... was 3-6 with a 5.12 ERA... pitched a total of 84.1 innings. He led the team with 54 strikeouts... was named to the SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll with a 3.07 GPA. 

2016 (Freshman): Despite a 1-9 record, Martinez was one of the Cardinals' most consistent pitchers... appeared in 17 games and started 12 as a freshman... finished the season with 63.1 innings, 46 strikeouts and 27 walks... was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll  

High School:  Martinez was on the baseball team at Laredo United High School... earned 2015 first team all-district honors as a Pitcher and Second team Shortstop... was named the Laredo Pitcher of the Year... was named to the 2014 First team all district Pitcher. 

Personal:  Martinez is the son of Gerardo and Bertha Martinez and is studying business administration.  He has a brother, Juan Gerardo and a sister, Alejandra.  He was born on December, 24, 1996.
