Biography

2015 (Junior):  Irby earned a pair of quality academic awards.  He was named CoSIDA Academic All-District VII first team and to the Southland Conference All-Academic first team.  He only played in seven games due to an injury cutting his season short, but was a starter at cornerback.  He had a season high six tackles against Texas A&M-Kingsville and had five tackles against Nicholls and UTEP.  He recovered fumbles against Northwestern State and at Sam Houston State.  He finished the year with 25 tackles.  He was named to the Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2014 (Sophomore):  Irby was a part-time starter at corner back and a top guy on punt coverage.  He had at least four tackles in seven of 11 games and opened the season with six stops against Sacramento State.  He forced a fumble and had four tackles at Northwestern State.  He recorded a sack and had four solo tackles at Nicholls.  He tallied a total of 11 tackles over the final two weeks of the season.  He tied for the team lead with six tackles in punt coverage.  He was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic team and to the Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2013 (Freshman):  Irby started all 11 games at corner back and usually was matched with the opponent's top receiver.  He had four tackles and recovered a fumble at #6 Central Arkansas.  He broke up a pair of passes in a shutout win over Langston.  He recorded four solo tackles and forced a fumble in a win over Eastern New Mexico.  He added four tackles and a two pass breakups at Southeastern Louisiana.  He had a season high six tackles at Abilene Christian and recorded at least three tackles in each of the last eight games of the year.  He had four tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss at McMurry.  He closed out the season with four tackles and a pass breakup against Angelo State.  He finished the year with 39 tackles and five pass breakups.

2012:  Irby red-shirted his first year at Incarnate Word.  He was named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

High School:  Irby was on the football, soccer and track teams at Dawson High School.  He earned all-district honors in football.  He helped lead the team to the State quarterfinals as a junior and the semifinals as a senior when they went 12-3.  He was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal:  Irby is the son of Daryl and Desiree Irby and is studying management.  He has a sister, Kayla, and was born on June 17, 1994.  He is a member of Delta Mu Delta and volunteers with San Antonio Pets Alive.
