2014 (Junior): Brightwell became one of the Cardinals two main goalkeepers in 2014 and shared time in goal by starting in 9 games and playing in a total of 11. She made a total of 30 saves and posted a 3.17 goals against average. In one of the Cardinals toughest fixtures of the year she made a season high of seven saves in only 45 minutes against Baylor University, despite losing 5-0 to the Bears.  She played the full 90 minutes in a loss at UTEP.

2013 (Sophomore): In her second year as a Cardinal, Brightwell remained as the teams reserve goal keeper. She played in six games, made a total of eight saves and conceded four goals. Her best performance of the season came against Southland Conference rival Oral Roberts.  She came on to replace her injured counterpart and made a number of key plays, including a pair of saves to preserve the victory. She was named onto the Southland Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2012 (Freshman): Brightwell spent the season as the team's backup goalkeeper. She appeared in five games and made three starts. She notched her first career victory at Midwestern State in a 2-1 overtime game. Her best performance of the year came at Abilene Christian when she made six saves and only gave up a single goal in a 1-0 loss. She was named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

High School: Brightwell had a successful high school soccer career at Elkins High School and at the club level. She helped lead Albion 94 G Blue to two D1-Classic undefeated seasons, two Texas State Championships and to the USYS Region 3 Finalists in the Presidents Cup Division 1 for two years. She earned Honorable Mention All-District 25-5A honors as a junior and First Team honors as a senior. She also competed in swimming, volleyball, track and cross country during her career.  She was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal: Brightwell is the daughter of Hugh and Michelle Brightwell and is studying biology and Spanish. Her father played football at Texas A&M and her grandfather played football at Colorado School or Mines.  She has a sister, Kalyn. She was born on June 30, 1994.  She is the UIW SAAC president and senator of athletics for SGA.  She is a member of the Honors program and is a peer mentor.  She has volunteered with the San Antonio Food Bank, TOMS "Style Your Sole" with the Methodist Children's Hospital, Blue Santa, Go Play Girls, Selma Saddle Light Center and various canned food drives and 5K walk/runs.
