Biography
2015 (Sophomore): Popa played in 17 games for the Cardinals in 2015 and started in 11 of them. She ranked among the top of the team with 17 shots on the year. She earned the honors of being named to the UTRGV All-Tournament team Aug 21-23.
2014 (Freshman): Popa became one of the leading freshman in the 2014 season and was a crucial member of the Cardinals midfield. She started in all 18 games and played a total of 1329 minutes. Despite firing a total of 20 shots and 12 shots on goal she was unable to make the scoresheet, but did offer an assist in a 4-1 loss against Sam Houston State. She hit her season high of four shots and three shots on goal in a contest against UT-Pan American. She was asked to take corner kicks for the team and lofted in 16 on the season. She was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
High School: Popa helped lead Reagan to a 21-2-3 record in 2014. She earned All-Area and All-District 26-5A First Team honors as a senior and was also a first team all-district choice as a junior. The team won three District titles during her playing career. She graduated summa cum laude.
Personal: Popa is the daughter of Florin Popa and Carla Peeler and is studying rehabilitative sciences. She has two siblings, Josha and Asher. Her grandfather, Tavi Popa, played for the Romanian National Team and professionally with Bucharest Dinamo, Bucharest Steaua and in Israel. She was born on November 15, 1995.
