Biography

2013 (Junior):  Stone was a Preseason NCBWA Second Team All-Region choice.  He was named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll and he received the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award.  He was hitting .310 following a doubleheader with Colorado Christian on Feb. 16, but slumped over the next month and a half before finishing the year strong.  He had five multi-hit games over the final month of the season and raised his batting average from .185 to .257.  He had three hits, scored twice and drove in two runs at West Texas A&M (4/20).  He finished the year with two hits, an RBI and a double against Abilene Christian (5/4) in the LSC Tournament.  He only committed one error on the season in the outfield.

2012 (Sophomore):  Stone did not play at all in February, but was an everyday starter in the outfield over the final two months of the season.  He earned First Team All-Lone Star Conference honors after leading the team with a .388 batting average and 10 doubles.  He was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week on Apr. 23 after going 9-for-14 at the plate in a weekend series with West Texas A&M.  He posted a team-high 16 game hitting streak from Mar. 30-Apr. 22.  He began the season with a three-hit performance at Texas A&M-International (3/3).  He had two hits, scored twice and drove in three runs against Tarleton State (4/6).  He was 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI’s, two doubles and a triple at Eastern New Mexico (4/15).  He had a pair of three-hit performances against West Texas A&M (4/21 and 4/22) in the regular season.  He hit safely in all three of the team’s conference tournament games.  He was named to the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Previous:  Stone red-shirted one season at Texas State.

High School:  Stone played baseball and football at Georgetown High School.  He was a two-time first team all-district outfielder.  He earned All-Area and All-State honors as a senior.  He was a two-time all-district safety in football.  He was the District 16-5A All-Purpose MVP and earned Second Team All-CenTex and Third Team All-State honors as a senior. 

Personal:  Stone is the son of Scott and Shelly Stone and is studying vision science.  He has two brothers, Tyler and Brad.  His father played football and ran track at Tarleton State.  His grandfather played baseball at Baylor.  He was born on March 14, 1991.
