2012 (Junior):  Asencio had another strong season at linebacker and as a dynamic kick returner.  He finished third on the team with 59 tackles including nine in each of the first two games of the year.  He had five tackles a 17-yard tackle for loss and a school record 86-yard interception return for a touchdown at Texas A&M-Kingsville.  He racked up three sacks for a total of 24 yards lost at Angelo State.  He averaged 28.1 yards on 10 kick returns, a school record, and had three returns for 109 yards against McMurry.  His 213 career interception return yards is a school record.  He was named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2011 (Sophomore):  Asencio moved into a full-time starting role at linebacker.  He was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week on October 10 after making seven tackles, blocking a kick and picking off a pass in a win at A&M-Commerce.  He opened the season with 12 tackles against East Central and finished the year with five games of at least double digit tackles.  He made 11 stops and forced a fumble at Lamar.  He had seven tackles, a forced fumble and a 49-yard interception return at West Texas A&M.  He set a season high with 15 tackles and two pass breakups against Angelo State.  He closed out the season with 10 tackles and a 62-yard interception return at Abilene Christian.  He led the team with 88 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions.  He was named to the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2010 (Freshman):  Asencio started six games and appeared in nine for the Cardinals.  He had five solo tackles and six total stops in a win over Central Oklahoma.  He contributed four tackles and a pass breakup in an overtmie loss at #10 Midwestern State.  He notched seven tackles and his first tackle for loss in a win at East Central.  He closed out the season with 10 tackles in a win over A&M-Commerce.  He finished the year with 46 total tackles.

High School:  Asencio played football at Hendrickson HIgh School under head coach Chip Killian.  He was a First Team All-District 25-4A selection at linebacker as a senior.

Personal:  Asencio is the son of Juan and Barbara Asencio and is studying criminal justice.  He was born on August 15, 1991.
