University of the Incarnate Word Athletics

Previous: Chavis played at Florida State College at Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla., for head coach Mary Andrew.  She helped her team to a 30-7 overall record while going 14-2 against Florida teams and 4-0 in conference play. The team advanced to regionals and finished the season ranked 11th in the nation.  She led team in kills during the NJCAA Tournament.  After playing at FSC she transferred to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2011.  She was second on the team with 67 blocks and also posted a .200 attack percentage for the season.  She had 13 kills and three blocks in a win over Nicholls State.  She had eight blocks in a win over UT-Pan American.

High School: Chavis played at Bush High School in the Fort Bend area of Houston for head coach LeAnne McGiver.  As a senior, she was named all-district while leading her team in kills and blocks. She was named All-District every year and was the team MVP her final two seasons.  She led her team in kills as both a junior and senior and was top five in the district for kills. She finished her career ranked in her school's top three all-time for kills.  She was selected to the All-18 National Team for the Houston Juniors club team and played basketball for one season.

Personal:  Chavis is the daughter of Chann and Cindy Chavis and is studying kinesiology.  She has three siblings; Jordan, Brooklyn and Kyeligh.  She was born on August 12, 1991.  She volunteers with the ASPCA and Boys and Girls Club.
