Biography

Previous:  Johnson was in the Texas program for four years and played in 20 games on defense and special teams, including five starts.  He posted 26 tackles (18 solo), one sack, three TFL and seven pressures for his career.  He was a 2010 first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and a two-time member of UT's Athletics Director's Honor Roll.
 
High School:  Johnson was a member of the football, basketball and track teams at Nederland High School.  He was a Parade All-American and all-state performer who played in the 2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.  He was named a Third Team EA Sports All-American and was a member of ESPNU’s top 150 prospects and Rivals’ top 250 national prospects.  He was a first team member of Dave Campbell’s Super Team.  He tallied 246 tackles, 30 tackles for loss and 16 sacks in three seasons.  He was the Texas 4A Defensive Player of the Year as named by the Associated Press as a senior.  He earned First Team All-State 4A honors from the Texas Sports Writers Association.
 
Personal:  Johnson is studying kinesiology.  His father, Derrick Johnson, played linebacker at Temple and Texas Tech.
