Biography

Rios was named to the USA Football News Preseason All-America Third Team.  He enters his senior year holding 13 career school records, 12 single season records and nine single game records.

2011 (Junior):  Rios earned Honorable Mention all-Lone Star Conference honors and was named to the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.  He earned First Team Capital One Academic All-District VI honors.  He opened the season with three huge games.  He had 158 all-purpose yards and scored a touchdown in a 31-21 loss to East Central in the opener.  He came back with a career-high 202 rushing yards, four touchdowns and 233 all-purpose yards in a 41-28 win over Eastern New Mexico.  He finished off the stretch with 120 yards and two touchdowns rushing and five catches for 39 yards receiving in a 45-35 loss at Lamar.  He struggled with injuries for the next few weeks, but finished the year strong with 85 yards and two touchdowns at #12 Abilene Christian.  He led the team with 686 yards rushing and 11 total touchdowns.
 
2010 (Sophomore):  Rios nabbed Honorable Mention all-Lone Star Conference South Division honors.  He earned First Team Capital One Academic All-District VI honors and was named to the LSC South Division All-Academic Team.  He set a school record with 888 yards rushing and posted 1,632 all-purpose yards.  He rushed for 127 yards on 25 carries, scored two touchdowns, passed for a touchdown and caught the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime in a 42-41 win over Central Oklahoma.  He was named the LSC South Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts.  He rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-13 win at East Central.  He closed out the season with a 207-yard performance in a win over Texas A&M-Commerce.  He gained a school-record 288 all-purpose yards in the game.
 
2009 (Freshman):  Rios led the Cardinals with 357 yards rushing.  He rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns while catching four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown in a 37-35 win at Southwest Assemblies of God.  He scored his first career touchdown on a 23-yard pass from Thomas Specia in a 17-14 loss at Langston.

High School:  Rios played football and ran track at Smithson Valley High School.  As a senior he earned academic and athletic all-state honors.  He earned First Team All-Comal County and all-diistrict honors in the same season.  As a junior, he nabbed academic all-district honors while earning all-district awards as a running back and a kick returner.
 
Personal:  Rios is the son of Tony and Melinda Rios and is studying business management.  He has a brother, Trey, and was born on October 30, 1989.
