SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team is searching for its first win as it welcomes cross-town opponent Our Lady of the Lake to Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium on Friday night.
The Cardinals hit the road for the first time this season last Friday, taking on Tulsa. After finding their rhythm late in the first half, UIW quickly created an opportunity in the second, scoring just 90 seconds after halftime. Erik Rios delivered a corner kick to Giovanni Padilla, whose initial attempt was blocked before he found the back of the net to even the score at 1-1.
The score held for just four minutes before Tulsa reclaimed the lead, holding on for the remainder of the match. Despite the result, the Cardinals outshot the Hurricanes in the final 45 minutes.
