SAN ANTONIO -- After opening the season with two games at home, the University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Tulsa this Friday for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Hurricanes.

The Cardinals opened the season with a 1-1 draw against UMass Lowell, with Charles Chimezie scoring a late equalizer to secure the result. His goal earned him a shout on the OVC's Men's Soccer Notable Performers list for the first week of the season. 

UIW then fell to Jacksonville, 5-1, on Sunday. Reagan Gyedu scored the Cardinals' lone goal of the match for his first career goal as a Cardinal, converting a cross from Danny Elizalde. Elizalde has assisted on both of UIW's goals through the first two matches of the season.

Here's a look at the Cardinal's first road matchup of the season. 

TULSA (1-0-1)

WHEN AND WHERE: Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m., Hurricane Soccer Stadium (Tulsa, Okla.)

ABOUT THE HURRICANES: Tulsa will host the Cardinals in its third consecutive home game to open the season. The Hurricanes opened the season with a 1-1 draw against UC Riverside on Aug. 20, scoring their lone goal on a penalty kick in the 79th minute. Tulsa then earned a 1-0 win over the University of Illinois Chicago on Aug. 23. Goalkeeper Carlito Saylon recorded eight saves in the shutout, while the Hurricanes' game-winning goal came via an own goal. 

MATCHUP HISTORY: Tulsa leads the all-time series with the Cardinals, 1-0. The Cardinals' only trip to Tulsa came in 2019, when UIW fell in a 4-0 result.
