FRISCO, Texas — Sophomore libero Ashton Rogers was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning.
Rogers posted near-season-best performances in both matches during the opening week of Southland Conference play, helping the Cardinals start league play undefeated. She recorded 42 digs across two games, averaging 5.25 digs per set, while adding a season-high two aces against Northwestern State.
She leads the Cardinals this season with 4.63 digs per set, which ranks third in the Southland Conference. She also ranks 27th nationally among NCAA Division-I. The Bakersfield, Calif. native anchors the Cardinal defense that ranks second in the Southland Conference, averaging 15.58 digs per set.
This marks the first Player of the Week honor of Rogers' career. The sophomore is also the first UIW volleyball player to win a Southland Conference Player of the Week award for the 2026 season. She is the Cardinals' first Defensive Player of the Week selection since Audrey Patton earned the honor on Nov. 11, 2024.
