The University of Incarnate Word Women's Basketball Team saw their three-game win streak come to an end Thursday night as the hot-shooting Stephen F. Austin Ladyjills defeated the Cardinals, 93-71, inside the McDermott Center.

Brynn Lusby led Incarnate Word with 20 points off the bench, but only one other Cardinal, Raimi McCrary, reached double figures in the game. Lusby connected on 9-of-11 shots from the field and added two rebounds in just 14 minutes of action. McCrary had 11 points, on 5-of-6 shooting, plus three rebounds and one assist in the game. Gwendlyn McGrew nearly had her second double-double of the season, but she struggled from the field, shooting just 3-of-14, and 3-of-10 from three-point range, finishing her night with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Londyn Oliphant turned in a well-rounded effort off the bench, chipping in 7 points, a game-high 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.

Stephen F. Austin took an early 11-6 lead in the first quarter, but UIW made it a one-point game at 13-12 with 4 minutes to play in the opening frame. The Ladyjills countered the Cardinal run with back-to-back baskets and held a 20-14 lead after the first quarter of play.

Incarnate Word scored the first five points of the second quarter, making it 20-19, but Stephen F. Austin again had an answer and opened-up an 11-0 run over the next 2-plus minutes that brought up the largest lead of the game thus far. UIW's deficit remained in at least the high single digits for the remainder of the first half as the Cardinals trailed 45-35 at halftime.

Incarnate Word tried to reset in the locker rooms, but the short halftime break did not cool off the offense of Stephen F. Austin as the Cardinals would get no closer than 10 points in the third quarter and trail 70-54 with 10 minutes to play. UIW shot 50 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter, matching their best period performance of the night, but it was not enough as the Cardinals would fall 93-71.

Incarnate Word will look to close out their home schedule with a victory as the Cardinals host Lamar University on Saturday, February 28th as part of UIW's Alumni Weekend. It is also Senior Day for the Cardinals' Women's Basketball Team. Tip-off from the McDermott Center is set for 1:00 p.m.
