Men’s Soccer Continues Homestand Against SIUE, Southern Indiana

SAN ANTONIO -- The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team continues its homestand this week with two games at home after picking up its first conference win of the season. The Cardinals will welcome conference leader SIUE on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. before facing Southern Indiana on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals dropped a 2-0 decision on the road to Lindenwood last week, before returning home for a game that was rescheduled to be played in San Antonio instead of Edinburg due to forecasted weather.

UIW defeated UTRGV, 2-1, behind a late game-winner from Diego Robles in the 86th minute. The Vaqueros struck first with nine minutes remaining in the opening half, taking a 1-0 lead into the break. Emanuel Martinez found the equalizer 11 minutes into the second half, scoring his first goal of the season off an assist from Juan Monrreal. With the match tied at one, Robles delivered the decisive goal with five minutes remaining to secure the victory for the Cardinals.

Here's a look at the opponents the Cardinals will welcome to Benson this week.
