SAN ANTONIO -- Following a sweep of their Illinois road trip, the University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team swept the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week awards, the conference announced Tuesday morning. Diego Robles earned Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Charles Chimezie claimed Defensive Player of the Week and Victor Salmeron earned Goalkeeper of the Week.

Robles earned his second consecutive OVC Offensive Player of the Week award after scoring in both of the Cardinals' games this week. He continues to lead the conference with nine goals and 1.38 points per game. His 73.5 percent shot accuracy ranks first nationally.

Robles' goal against Western Illinois in the 57th minute broke a scoreless tie and marked his fourth game-winning goal of the season, which also leads the conference.

Chimezie earned his first OVC weekly honor after helping the Cardinals secure a 2-1 comeback victory over Eastern Illinois last Thursday. The Dallas College transfer helped keep the Panthers scoreless in the second half before playing a full 90 minutes in UIW's 1-0 shutout of Western Illinois on Sunday. Chimezie leads the Cardinals with 1,170 minutes played this season and has logged the full 90 minutes in all 13 games.

After recording his first shutout in his UIW career, Salmeron earned his first Goalkeeper of the Week honor. The redshirt junior allowed just one goal across two matches and recorded six saves in each contest, finishing just one save shy of his season best.

Since earning the starting role three games into the season, Salmeron has appeared in 10 matches and recorded 49 saves. His .754 save percentage ranks second in the conference, and his 4.90 saves per game also rank second in the OVC and 13th nationally.

Incarnate Word looks to continue its momentum after going 4-0-1 in its last five games when it hosts Houston Christian on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
