SAN ANTONIO -- After a career-best performance at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate, freshman William Mangione has been named Southland Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Thursday afternoon.

Mangione led Incarnate Word this past week, tying for fourth in the 98-player field, the highest individual finish by a Cardinal this fall. He opened the tournament with 71 (-1) and 74 (+2) in the second round. He closed with a 66 (-6) in the final round, the best single-round score by a Cardinal this season. This weekend marked the first time Mangione recorded multiple rounds under par in his collegiate career.

This marks Mangione's first conference honor, completing a freshman sweep for Incarnate Word as he joins women's golfer Aubrie Nolen as this week's Southland Conference Golfers of the Week.
