SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team will head west for the BYU Nike Invitational in Provo, Utah. The Cardinals begin play against Wichita State University (WSU) on Friday at 10 a.m. MT. Later in the day, UIW will take on the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) at 1 p.m. MT. The Red and Black will close out the BYU Nike Invitational, taking on ranked BYU on Saturday at 6 p.m. MT. All matches will be played at the Smith Fieldhouse and streamed live on ESPN+.

• UIW is coming off a historic 2024 campaign, posting 17 overall wins and nine conference victories—both program records since moving to Division I in 2013. The Cardinals enter the weekend 2-1 following last week's Wildcat Classic.  

• Calissa Allison earned First Team All-Conference honors in 2024 after leading the Cardinals in kills, points, and service aces. 

• The Cardinals return 12 players, including six starters from last season's conference tournament run. 

• Last weekend, Kyla Malone was named to the Wildcat Classic All-Tournament team after putting up 34 kills, 24 digs, 4 assists, and 2 aces. 

Scouting the Schockers 

• Wichita State enters the BYU Classic with a 1-1 record to start their 2025 campaign.  

• Last season, the Shockers posted an 18-14 overall record (.562) and made a postseason appearance, falling in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament to Southern Methodist University.  

Scouting the Bears 

• The Bears enter the tournament riding a wave of momentum after a 2-1 home stand defeating the Washington Huskies in the Home opener and a thrilling five-set victory over in-state rival Colorado State on Tuesday night.  

• Both wins serve as a confidence booster as Northern Colorado takes on three talented programs in what promises to be a competitive weekend of volleyball. 

Scouting the Cougars 

• The Cougars have started the 2025 campaign on a strong note, boasting an undefeated 3-0 record.  

• After finishing the 2024 season with a 19-10 overall record (.655 winning percentage), BYU earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament before falling in the first round to Loyola Chicago.
