SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word volleyball team will travel to San Marcos for the Texas State Tournament this weekend. The Cardinals begin play against #9 Arizona State University (ASU) on Friday at 2 p.m. UIW will take on Tulsa University (TU) on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Red and Black will close the tournament, taking on the host Texas State on Saturday at 4 p.m. All matches will be played at the Strahan Arena.

UIW
- UIW is coming off a historic 2024 campaign, posting 17 overall wins and 10 conference victories—both program records since moving to Division I in 2013. The Cardinals enter the weekend 3-3 following last week's BYU Nike Invitational.
- Calissa Allison earned First Team All-Conference honors after leading the Cardinals in kills, points, and service aces.
- The Cardinals return 12 players, including six starters from last season's conference tournament run.
- Last weekend, Finley Evans was named to the BYU Nike Invitational All-Tournament team after putting up 34 kills, 21 digs, four assists, and three aces.
Scouting the Sun Devils
- After a stellar weekend, graduate middle blocker Colby Neal was named the MVP of the Nore-Stahl Classic. She had a team-best 17 blocks, and against FGCU, she had a season-high eight blocks.
- With a No. 9 ranking this week, ASU has been ranked in 29 consecutive polls, which is tied for the longest streak in program history (2014-15).
Scouting the Canes
- Tulsa enters the weekend with a 4-2 record, with its lone loss to Colorado. It has wins against Oklahoma and Arkansas.
- Lauren Eitler and Olivia Vance lead the Tulsa offense with 2.76 kills per set apiece. Brayden Hipp sets the tone with 8.81 assists per set. Lauren Patterson leads the defense with 3.43 digs per set.
Scouting the Bobcats
- Texas State (3-2) played in the Southwest Showdown over the weekend, going 2-1 with wins over conference foes UTRGV and Texas A&M - Corpus Christi.
- The lone loss came against UTEP. In the series history between UIW and Texas State, the Bobcats lead 3-1.
