SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team will host Gonzaga University and the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The Cardinals and the Bulldogs face off on Thursday at 8 p.m. and the River Hawks on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium.

• The Cardinals return 12 players from the 2024 roster, including nine players who each logged over 500 minutes of play. The Red and Black also welcomed 16 new players to the squad.  

• Head coach Kiki Lara returns for his sixth season after leading the team to a 6-6-6 finish in 2024, marking the Cardinals' best season since 2015.  

• Last season also saw UIW return to the Ohio Valley Conference Semifinals following their trip to the conference finals in 2023.    

• In goal for the Cardinals this year is graduate student Alejandro De La Torre who is returning following last season's historic run. De La Torre broke the record for most shutouts in a single season in the 24' campaign.  

• Rochaine Baker was named a Preseason Player to Watch before the 2025 season began. The Cardinals were selected to finish fifth in the Preseason Rankings.  

Scouting the Bulldogs  

• The Bulldogs enter the match 0-1-1 after losing to Utah Valley and playing to a draw against Utah Tech.  

• Alex Bazia leads the Bulldogs in points with two entering week two.  

• Chema Preciado is the Zags goalkeeper with six saves while facing 26 shots.  

Scouting the River Hawks  

• The River Hawks enter the match 1-1 after defeating Saint Peter's and losing to LIU.  

• Linus Musielak and Justin Pham lead the team in points with two. Both Musielak and Pham have recorded goals for the River Hawks.  

• Jorge Ortega is the River Hawks goalkeeper with seven saves while facing 22 shots.
