SAN ANTONIO -- For the second time this season, University of the Incarnate Word goalkeeper Victor Slameron has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Salmeron shares the honor with Western Illinois goalkeeper Drew Heller after recording a career-high nine saves in the Cardinals' win over Lindenwood, securing UIW's second-place finish in the conference regular-season standings. The Menorca native also opened the week with six saves at UTRGV, keeping the Vaqueros scoreless in the second half to help secure the road draw.
Since earning the starting role three games into the season, Salmeron has appeared in 12 matches and recorded 67 saves, ranking 18th nationally. His .744 save percentage ranks second in the conference, and his 5.15 saves per game also ranks second in the OVC and is tied for ninth nationally.
Incarnate Word will enter the Ohio Valley Conference as the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6 Eastern Illinois on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m.
