SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will begin its 2025 regular season on Thursday, August 14, with an away game against the University of North Texas at 7 p.m. The following Sunday, the Cardinals will host Texas State at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.  
How to Follow Home Games 
UIW 
	- The Cardinals return 14 players from the 2024 roster, including ten players who each logged over 500 minutes of play. 
- Head coach Jake Plant returns for his third season after leading the team to an 8-8-3 finish in 2024, marking the Cardinals' best season since 2021.
- Last season also saw UIW return to the Southland Conference Tournament for the first time since 2021.  
Scouting the Mean Green 
	- The Mean Green returns several key players from last year's squad, including their top three goal scorers from a year ago in Rachel Roebuck, Claire Niedermeier, and Summer Brown.
- Sophomore Hicks Bishop is the team's lone returning goalkeeper and played in six matches last year with four starts.
- Roebuck, Bernard, and defender Abi Major were all named to the American Preseason Watch List earlier this week.
Scouting the Bobcats 
	- Victoria Meza was chosen as the conference's preseason midfielder of the year, and she was picked to the all-conference team along with Kennley Bradley. 
- Caitlyn Draper is the team's lone returning goalkeeper. She recorded 56 saves in 13 games last season.
- Texas State was picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference preseason coaches poll behind reigning champion James Madison.
