SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team had six student-athletes named Stats Perform Preseason All-Americans ahead of the 2025 season.
Jalen Walthall continues to make his name known as he was the only Cardinal make the first team, thanks to his stellar 2024 season in which he was third in the nation in both receiving touchdowns and yards.
Newcomers
Tyler Morton and
Chedon James both made San Antonio home this spring and were named to the second team. Morton is familiar with the Southland Conference coming to San Antonio after spending four seasons in Thibodaux and James joins the Cardinals after a stint with Fresno State. Both had their seasons cut short last year, only appearing in four games, but look to make a huge impact in their new threads in 2025.
Declan Williams and
Traveon Newsome are accompanied by
Jaylon Spears on the third team. Williams and Newsome both became staples of the Cardinal roster after impressive first seasons. Spears will look to do the same in his first season dawning the red and black with big shoes to fill in the backfield.
