SAN ANTONIO, Tx. - The University of the Incarnate Word women's tennis team closed out the regular season in style, earning two strong conference wins at home—a 4-3 victory over Nicholls on Saturday and a 5-2 win against New Orleans on Monday. 

Saturday was extra special as it was Lyric Bonilla's Senior Day, honoring her incredible impact on the program over the years. Bonilla had a standout performance, winning both her doubles and singles matches to help lead the Cardinals past Nicholls. The team grabbed the doubles point, and Estefania Gonzalez and Bonilla followed up with straight-set singles wins. Smilia Matovic came up with a great clinch win under pressure, dropping a close second set but bouncing back to dominate 6-0 in the third. 

Monday's match against UNO was another hard-fought battle. Despite losing tight doubles point in a tiebreaker at line 1, the Cardinals bounced back with strong singles play. Early wins at lines 5 and 6 put us on the board, followed by Bonilla's clutch straight-set win. Gonzalez clinched the match with a composed victory at line 1, and Montalvo earned another gritty three-set victory. 

NEXT UP: With regular season play complete, the Cardinals now look forward to the Southland Conference Tournament starting Tuesday, April 23rd in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
