SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word Women's Tennis team faced a tough weekend of competition, taking on Northwestern State University on Saturday and Stephen F. Austin on Monday at Mabry court. Despite playing against the teams that are leading the conference, the team fought hard and showed resilience on the court. 

Against NSU, the Cardinals fell 6-1. Estefania Gonzalez delivered a dominant performance at line 2, securing a 6-3, 6-1 victory and putting UIW on board. The team battled across all courts, pushing their opponents in several tight sets. 

On Sunday, UIW faced SFA and came up short with a 7-0 result. However, Amelie Montalvo showcased her fighting spirit in a hard-fought battle, rallying from 5-1 down in the second set to force a tight finish. 

Looking forward, the team will not play any matches this weekend, and will prepare for the next two matches on the road against UTRGV and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on April 5th and 7th.
