DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team won the first game of the 2025 Purple College Basketball Invitational (CBI) on Sunday afternoon against the Manhattan Jaspers, 92-85. This is the first postseason win for UIW men's basketball in the Division I era.
Jordan Pyke recorded a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Dylan Hayman had another great game offensively scoring 25 points.
The Cardinals were dominant on the stat sheet converting on more field goals, 21-16, making more assists, 10-7, and out rebounding the Jaspers, 10-7. Despite this, the game remained close as the Cardinals were called for six first half fouls compared to just one called on Manhattan.
Jalin Anderson led all scorers with 13 points going 6-for-8 from the field and the score at half was 47-43.
In the second half the foul calls evened out, the game was choppy and each school was called for more than 10 in 20 minutes. Pyke scored 14 points and Hayman scored 15,
Marcus Glover dominated the paint pulling down five rebounds and slamming home a few huge dunks to keep momentum with the Cards.
In the end UIW remained in control and walked away with the 92-85 win.
