LAKE CHARLES, LA. – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team's season came to an end in the Southland Conference Semifinals against the No. 1 seeded Southeastern Lady Lions, 57-37.
Jorja Elliott led the Cardinals in points, scoring 12 points and four rebounds. Dorian Norris finished with 11 points.
The Lady Lions led the Cardinals 11-6 after one. The Red and Black were outscored by SLU, 17-9 in the second quarter to take a 28-15 deficit into the half. The Cardinals struggled to get shots off against the Lady Lions defense as UIW shot 14% from the field in the first half.
The Lady Lions stretched its lead to 45-25 after three. UIW had their highest scoring quarter in the fourth, scoring 12 points. SLU matched UIW's 12 points in the fourth to bring the final score to 57-37.
