LAKE CHARLES, LA – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will face Northwestern State University in the Southland Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. The Cardinals and Lady Demons will tip off at 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning. This will be the third time UIW and NSU face off this season, the Cardinals swept the regular season series.

The Cardinals entered the final week of the regular season in sixth place in the league standings, but after winning out and getting some help the Cardinals finished in fourth place and clinched a first round by for the third year in a row under head coach Jeff Dow.
Dorian Norris was named to the Southland Conference All-Defensive team prior to the conference tournament. Norris led Southland Conference in "Stocks" (steals plus blocked shots) with 98 in all games (57 steals and 38 blocked shots) and conference games only with 76 (47 steals and 29 blocked shots) She finished 2nd in steals (47) in conference games (4th overall in all games) and 5th in blocked shots with 29 (7th overall in all games).
Jorja Elliott led the Cardinals in scoring all season long, averaging 9.9 points per contest, scoring in double figures in 16 games with a season-high 22 points against Northwestern State to earn herself SLC Player of the Week.
Forward Raimi McCrary is the leading rebounder, pulling down 5.6 per game. She's tallied 10-plus rebounds in five games this season, including two double-doubles.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
The Cardinals defeated NWST less than a week ago. Last Thursday the Cardinals defeated the Lady Demons 71-64 in Natchitoches. The Red and Black are currently on a 13-game winning streak against NWST. Head Coach Jeff Dow has never lost to the Lady Demons in his tenure at UIW.
SCOUTING THE LADY DEMONS
NWST is coming off a win against Texas A&M Corpus Christi in the first round of the SLC Tournament.
The Lady Demons had three players earn All-Southland Conference honors. Leading scorer of the SLC Mya Blake was named to the first team as well as the SLC Newcomer of the Year. Vernell Atamah earned SLC Freshman of the Year honors, while graduate student Jasmin Dixon earned a spot on the SLC All-Defensive Team.
