Box Score SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball team took down the Lamar Cardinals 73-61 on Monday night in the McDermott Center. The Cardinals now be in firm control of the eighth spot with two games left in the regular season.
 
Davion Bailey led all scorers with 25 points and Jalin Anderson was a assist away from a double-double with 14 points and nine assists
 
The UIW Cardinals were all over Lamar early forcing four turnovers in the first few minutes of the game. Dylan, who is the Southland's second leader in field goal percentage, was nearly perfect only missing one of his first five shots and Davion Bailey knocked down three early three-pointers as UIW built a double-digit lead 28-11.
 
UIW was fueled by big play after big play on offense. Lamin Sabally met a Lamar Cardinal at the rim slamming it down on him. Davion Bailey followed this up just a play later with knocking down his fourth three-pointer of the game while being fouled and making the free throw. The Cardinals went into the break with a 46-27 lead.
 
The second half was a completely different story as UIW struggled from offense only scoring seven points in the first 11 minutes of the half, allowing Lamar to cut the lead to just six, 54-48. Back-to-back three-pointers pushed the lead back to double figures with just over five minutes of the game.
 
UIW was able to cruise to victory from there as the lead would never drop below nine for the remainder of the half and the Cardinals won by a final score of 73-61.
