Women’s Basketball Hosts Final Two Homes Games

SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball is set to host Lamar and Stephen F. Austin in their final home games. On Thursday, February 20 Lamar and UIW tip off at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday, February 22 the Lady Jacks and Cardinals tip off at 1:00 p.m.  
 
UIW 

The Cardinals are in fourth place in the league standings with a 10-6 conference record after clinching a spot in the conference tournament. This past Saturday the Cardinals completed the regular season sweep of Islanders to secure a spot in the tournament.  

UIW is fifth in the conference with its 41 percent field goal percentage, knocking down 574 shots as a team. 

Jorja Elliott continues to lead the Cardinals in scoring, averaging 9.7 points per contest, scoring in double figures in 12 games with a season-high 22 points against Northwestern State to earn herself SLC Player of the Week. 

Forward Raimi McCrary is the leading rebounder, pulling down 5.8 per game. She's tallied 10-plus rebounds in five games this season, including two double-doubles. McCrary is also second on the team in points per game, averaging 8.6 per contest.  

THE LAST TIME THEY MET  

The Cardinals fell to Lamar the last time they faced off. In January LU defeated UIW 69-47 in Beaumont.   

The Cardinals fell to the Lady Jacks earlier this season losing 67-60 on the road. The Lady Jacks enter the contest on an eight-game winning streak.   

SCOUTING THE LAMAR LADY CARDINALS 

LU enters the contest 17-7 and is in second place in the conference standings. 

Sabria Dean leads the Lady Cardinals in points averaging 14.9 per game.  

Dean also leads the team in steals, averaging 1.8 per game.  

SCOUTING THE LADY JACKS 

The Lady Jacks enter the contest on an 8-game winning streak after sweeping last week's matchups against ETAMU and NWST. 

SFA sits in third place in the conference standings with a 22-5 (12-4) record. 

Faith Blackstone leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game.  

Trinity Moore leads the team in rebounds, totaling 6.1 per game.
