SAN ANTONIO- The University of the Incarnate Word football team fell short at home against Stephen F. Austin on Oct. 4, 31-17.
The Cardinals fell behind 14-0 early after turning the ball over twice in the first 15 minutes. Despite the slow start, UIW still found a way to move the ball down the field and put points on the board before the quarter's end. This is the third time that
Will Faris has scored the first points of the game for the Cardinals, as UIW went into the second trailing 14-3.Â

The Lumberjacks' touchdown plays continued to get longer, after scoring on a 20 and 37-yard passes in the first, took it in from 47 yards out to push the SFA lead to 24-3. In the second quarter, the Cardinals' only points once again came from
Will Faris, who this time converted on a 34-yard field goal, making the score 24-6. On the final drive of the half,
Joe Cadette sacked the SFA quarterback, giving the Cardinals two on the night. Coming into the game, UIW had successfully taken down the QB twice this season.Â

The third quarter of Cardinal football was quiet, tallying zero points. The defensive line held the Lumberjacks to 79 yards on 29 carries (2.2 YPC) and six tackles for loss. The Cardinals ended the game doubling their sack total on the year with two.Â

Talib Salahuddin was a menace in the trenches, posting one sack, one tackle for loss, and two QB hurries.

The Cardinals turned it on in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of the 17 points in 15 minutes, starting with a 37-yard field goal from Will Farris, tying his longest this season. Wide receiver Josh Lorrick brought home the lone Cardinal touchdown from 16 yards out with 1:18 left in the fourth quarter. Following the touchdown, running back
Jaylon Spears punches in a 2-point conversion, which would be the final point scored in the game, ending 31-17
