SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word football team will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. CT, taking on Lamar University in Benson Stadium.

- Last week, the Cardinals and UTRGV Vaqueros collectively combined for over 900 yards of offense and 12 touchdowns in their first time competing against each other.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
- The electric Jalen "Walt" Walthall had a career night against the Vaqueros last Saturday, catching 10 passes for a career high 220 yards. Walt's longest reception went for 69 yards and a touchdown immediately after the second half began. His 220-yard performance is the first of its kind since 2022. The last person to achieve this feat was a UIW alumnus receiver, Darion Chafin, with 262 yards on seven receptions.
- Despite becoming the starter two weeks into the season, freshman quarterback EJ Colson is third in passing yards (1,560) with the highest competition percentage in the conference (69.9). He also has the second-most yards on the ground for quarterbacks (251) in the SLC.
- Declan Williams is a force that opposing offenses have to reckon with as he's in the top-5 in the SLC for total tackles for loss (8). UIW has two top-10 linebackers with the most tackles in Williams (65) and fellow linebacker Dune Smith (62).
SCOUTING THE LAMAR CARDINALS
- Red bird versus red bird is a yearly battle they've competed in since 2011. The UIW Cardinals have won the last five matchups and lead the all-time series against Lamar 7-4.
- The Beaumont-based Cardinals are 7-1 this campaign and have the best record in the SLC.
- Running back Xavier Coleman has the most all-purpose yards on the team with 445 (346 rushing and 99 receiving).
