SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word football team will travel down to the Valley for its first ever matchup against the UTRGV Vaqueros at 7 p.m. Saturday night.
While this will be the first matchup between the two schools in football, the Cardinals and Vaqueros have played against one another in almost every other team sport, including volleyball, basketball, soccer and baseball.

- The Cardinals have the third best rush defense in the SLC, allowing only 815 yards on the ground this season.

- Their last game saw the Vaqueros lose to Lamar University in a nailbiter, 23-21. They average 485 yards per game, yet last week they ended with 189.
- Xayvion Noland leads the Vaqueros in receiving yards with 568, which is first in the SLC.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
- Jalen Walthall's nine catches for 96 yards put him over 2,000 career yards.
- Jaylon Spears has the fifth most rushing yards in the Southland with 316.
- EJ Colson has completed more passes than any other quarterback in the Southland this year.
- John Mathis only had three tackles against East Texas, but still managed to force two fumbles.
