Men’s Soccer Falls Short in Back to Back Conference Games

SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word men's soccer team traveled to Misourri and fell 0-2 to both Lindenwood University and Southern Indiana University Edwardsville (SIUE) last week. In the Ohio Valley Conference, the Cardinals have a 4-6-5 record this season (0-4-3 in OVC).

CARDINALS VS. LIONS (0-2)

The Cardinals fought hard through 90 minutes of playing time last Thursday.

The first half of play saw UIW attempt more shots than Lindenwood, with two of them happening in the first seven minutes. Two of the 11 Cardinal shot creations came from Noe Robles, who is in the OVC top-10 for that category.

Cardinals unfortunately went down 1-0 with a goal three minutes before half.

Alejandro De La Torre went up against 18 shot attempts from the Lions and saved six of them. He is in the OVC top-3 for total saves on the season.

Lions would score again at the 72 minute mark and would be the last point scored in the match.

CARDINALS VS. COUGARS (0-2)

The Cardinals fell in back-to-back conference matches in a tough competition last Sunday against the SIUE Cougars.

Similar to the previous game against the Lions, the Cardinals fell 1-0 heading into halftime around the 40 minute mark.

UIW has been consistent about starting the game off explosive, attempting more shots than the opposing team, but have yet to find the back of the net.

Six attempts came from Noe Robles and Diego Robles who played in the entire 90 minutes of regulation.

The Cougars scored the final point in the game 80 minutes into the match and ended the game 2-0.
