Cardinal Football Honoring First Responders in Salute to Heroes Game

SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word football team will recognize and honor local heroes defending the nest against East Texas A&M University this Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Salute to Heroes
San Antonio is widely recognized as "Military City USA" due to its having one of the nation's largest populations of retired and active military members. It's estimated that the Alamo City has over 159,000 veterans and more than 80,000 active-duty military service members.

The title 'Hero' is not exclusive to military members, but should also be associated with local first responders in San Antonio's Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service members.

These heroes serve the nation's seventh-largest population (1.5 million) and deserve recognition.

The Cardinal football team will provide complimentary tickets, with a valid ID, to this Saturday's home game against East Texas A&M University at 4:30 p.m.
