SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's basketball team will travel to Louisiana for a pair of games against Southeastern Louisiana (SLU) and New Orleans (UNO). On Saturday, January 25th, the Cardinals and SLU will tip off at 1 p.m. in Hammond, and on Monday, UIW will visit the Privateers at 4 p.m.

The Cardinals are up to the fourth in the Southland Conference (SLC) standings with a record of 5-3 after capturing two home wins last week over UTRGV and Texas A&M – Corpus Christi.
UIW's defense has been stout all year, holding opponents to the second-lowest 3-point shooting percentage in the SLC (26.7%).
Junior Jorja Elliott continues to lead the Cardinals in scoring with 10.2 a game.
Freshman Brynn Lusby has been strong off the bench and is second on the team in points, scoring 9.2 points a game.
Forward Raimi McCrary is the leading rebounder, pulling down 6.5 per game. She's tallied 10-plus rebounds in four games this season, including two double-doubles.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
UIW and SLU split last year's meetings. The Lions took the first matchup in Hammond in overtime 93-86 and UIW won the next one in San Antonio 53-51.
The Cardinals have won the last four meetings over New Orleans, with the Privateer's last win in the series coming in 2022.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
SLU sits first in the SLC with an 8-0 record and is riding an 8-game winning streak.
The Lions boast the best scoring defense in the Southland, allowing just 56.2 points per game.
Southeastern Louisiana has protected the ball well all year and has the best turnover margin in the SLC (7.71) and the best assist-to-turnover ratio (1.12).
Graduate Student Alexius Horne leads the team in points and is second in the SLC scoring 15.4 per game.
Junior Lexi Alexander leads the Lions with 5.8 boards per game.
SCOUTING THE PRIVATEERS
New Orleans is currently last in the SLC with a 1-15 record after picking up their first win of the season last week in a 66-62 OT win over East Texas A&M.
Senior center Nora Francois leads UNO in scoring averaging 13.5 points per game.
