SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's volleyball team heads to Commerce for its first SLC match on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday the Cardinals travel to Hammond to take on last year's conference champion Lions at 12:00 p.m.   

UIW  

• The Cardinals are 7-3 through its first ten matches for the second time in the past two seasons under second-year head coach Gabby Ording. The 7-3 start is the best start to a season in Division I history through ten games.  

• Risa Sena leads the Cardinals in kills with 119, while hitting .279 percent. Kade Thomas leads the team with 35 blocks. 

• Calissa Allison is in the top five in kills (82), assists (208), aces (13), and digs (117) for UIW. 

• UIW was selected to finish eighth in the Southland Conference preseason poll but sits in first place.  

Scouting A&M Commerce 

• Commerce is 4-9 (1-0) on the year following a conference win over Northwestern State earlier in the week.  

• Kitana Tuufuli leads the Lions in kills with 129. Tuufuli is also in the top five on the team in blocks with 14.  

• Commerce sits atop the conference standings with a 1-0 conference record.  

Scouting Southeastern La. 

• After starting the 2024 campaign 0-4 the Lady Lions have gone on an 8-0 run to enter the week 8-4. 

• Cicily Hidalgo leads the team in kills with 146. Hidalgo is also in the top five on the team in aces (8) and leads the team in digs with 121.  

• The Lady Lions were selected to finish third in the SLC preseason poll but sit in fourth.
