LAS CRUCES, NM – The University of the Incarnate Word women's volleyball team heads to Las Cruces, NM for the New Mexico State Tournament. On Friday, the Cardinals take on Southern University at 2:00 p.m. On Saturday the Cardinals take on the host Aggies at 2:00 p.m.   

UIW  

• After dropping its first matchup of the season the Cardinals have gone 6-1 to bring its overall record to 6-2, tying the program's best start in DI history through eight games.  

• Risa Sena leads the Cardinals in kills with 90, while hitting .231 percent. Meanwhile, Kade Thomas leads the team with 29 blocks. 

• Calissa Allison is in the top five in kills (70), assists (166), aces (12), and digs (104) for UIW. 

• UIW was selected to finish eighth in the Southland Conference preseason poll but sits in first place.  

Scouting the Jaguars 

• Southern is 1-10 to open the 2024 season. 

• Tamara Chavez leads the Jags in kills with 64. 

• The Jaguars were selected to finish ninth in the SWAC preseason poll but sit in tenth place.  

Scouting the Aggies 

• New Mexico State started its 2024 campaign 4-5 after going 2-1 in the Borderland Invitational. 

• Starr Williams leads the team in kills with 126. 

• The Aggies were selected to finish second in the CUSA preseason poll but sit in fourth.
