SAN ANTONIO - The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will travel to Phoenix on Thursday night for a match with Grand Canyon at 9 p.m. at GCU Stadium.

UIW 

• The Cardinals are 2-3-2 following a 1-0 home win over UTEP on Thursday, September 12th.  

• Sophomore Alex Knutson leads the squad in goals (2), shots (12) and points (5).  

• This will be the final non-conference match of the season before UIW kicks off Southland play on September 27 against Southeastern Louisiana.  

• Goalkeeper Erica Defferding recorded her first shutout of the year against UTEP and has made 32 saves on the season. 

Scouting the Lopes 

• GCU won the only previous matchup between the two teams 1-0 in 2021. 

• The Lopes are 6-2-1 following a 1-0 win over Nevada. 

• Ranking 19th nationally in goals-against average (0.44), GCU has allowed just four goals all year and just one in the past five matches.  

• Graduate student Ellie Crisler leads the team in goals with three.
