SAN ANTONIO – The University of the Incarnate Word women's soccer team will visit PVAMU on Thursday, August 22 at 7:00 P.M. On Sunday, the Cardinals head up I-35 to face off with Texas State.  

UIW 

• UIW is 0-1-1 following a 1-1 tie to Tarleton State and a 1-0 loss to UTSA. 

• Graduate Student Ellie Mai Sanford netted the lone goal for the Cardinals and was named Southland Conference (SLC) defender of the week.  

• Sophomore goalkeeper Erica Defferding has made 14 saves in the first two matches.  

Scouting the Lady Panthers 

• PVAMU is 1-0 following a 2-1 win over North American in their opening match.  

• The Lady Panthers finished last season 3-12-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the SWAC and are projected to finish sixth in the SWAC this season. 

• Fourteen players return for PVAMU from a season ago including Graduate Student forward Mya Sheridan who was listed on the preseason All-SWAC Second Team. Sheridan led the team in goals (3) and points (7) last season. 

Scouting the Lady Bobcats 

• Texas State is 0-1 following a 2-1 loss in their opener against Rice. 

• The Lady Bobcats were chosen to finish eighth in the Sun Belt Preseason Poll and finished last season 9-7-4 overall and 3-3-4 in the Sunbelt. 

• 20 players return for the Bobcats this season including nine starters. Mady Soumare is returning and led the team with four goals last season.
